At present there is a huge demand for alternative full-featured music players, as some of them being paid apps in the Android Market. Therefore fully-featured Music apps have become hottest targets of competitors. We know well that CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) is most recent version of custom ROM based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. CyanogenMod ROMs have lot of customizable options such as its new Music Player App, which is developed by Andrew Neal from the CM9 team, presently called the CM9 Music player.
CM9 music app is loaded with rich customizable features than any other app and it’s available for free. Pre-Requisites:
- Require a rooted device running Android 4.0.3.
- Create backup for the default stock Music player app, so that we can then uninstall it before we install the application.
- Install ES File Explorer or Astro from Android Market and enable root access in the app.

Steps to download the CM9 Music Player App:
- Reboot your phone
- Transfer the CM9Music Player apk file to the root of your phones internal SD card by saving it to your computer via USB data cable.
- Launch ES File Explorer and enable Root Explorer access in its settings.
- Click “Allow” to the Superuser pop-up asking you whether you want to allow Root permission.
- Make sure that the”Mount System as writable” box is checked.
- Navigate to the file you copied to the SD card using ES File explorer.
- Copy it and paste it to system/apps.
- Exit ES File Explorer
- Now when you open the App drawer you will see the Music Player icon on your device.
- To install the theme, just download and install the apk from the link above. And apply the theme from within the CM9 Music player.
